Welcome to Geometry CP. I am very happy to be a participant in your experiences in your continuing journey in mathematics. The staff and I have made it our goal to provide you with enjoyable and meaningful learning opportunities in their classes. You will need to make it your goal to show a daily effort in actively participating in order for you to gain the most from your time spent in this course.
The process of mathematics cannot be learned by only reading, listening, memorizing, or problem-solving. Effective learning requires active mental engagement.
This activity–based course can leave you with greater confidence, deeper understanding, and better reasoning and problem–solving skills.
Through informal guided discovery and careful development of inductive reasoning, this course helps you explore and test geometry concepts. The purposes of deductive reasoning—explanation, discovery, verification of proof, and systemization—are introduced gradually. In stages you will learn how to explain and validate the conjectures using flowchart and paragraph proofs before you see formal two–column proofs. The goal is to develop self–motivated, independent thinkers with the skills to justify their reasoning.
